Routine responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct daily safety and environmental compliance inspections; participate in pre-work and tail-gate safety meetings; review and document JSA’s.

  • Generate daily inspection reports and input data into environmental management database. Track and aid Operations to manage and document corrective actions as needed.

  • On spill containment systems, aid Operations with the installation and management of repair pursuant to the Client standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Perform various periodic inspections (e.g., SPCC, safety, environmental compliance) of containments, tanks, and well pads on weekly and monthly basis.

  • Coordinate with Operations and Contractors to ensure corrective actions are implemented expeditiously.

  • Aid in coordination of waste shipments and serve as resource to Operations personnel regarding waste handling issues.

  • Ensure all Waste shipping and disposal records are properly maintained.

  • Coordinate spill, injury, and incident response actions and provide field supervision of Contractors.

  • Conduct spill, accident, incident and near miss reporting and Root Cause Analysis.

  • Manage and monitor safety equipment (e.g., four gas meters) maintained on-site for Operations.

  • Assist in emergency response actions in accordance with the ERP (Emergency Response Plan).

  • Provide EH&S Training to Operations personnel and Contractors.

  • Remain abreast of industry guidance and standard practices on EH&S regulations.

  • Actively participate in daily Operations calls and generate reports for management as needed.

  • Elevate to Director any conditions that are suspected to present elevated or increased risk of:

  • Safety hazard/risk of injury to any Operations personnel (whether Contractor or Client employee);

  • Risks to the public associated with Client or a Client's Contractor’s activities;

  • EH&S related liabilities (whether health, safety, or environmental); or

  • Any Operational or Production business related EH&S matter.


The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Work experience is the Marcellus Shale, Utica Shale, or Unconventional Drilling Operations in the Oil & Natural Gas industry.

  • Candidate must have valid non-commercial driver’s license and be able to pass drug & alcohol testing.

  • Work involves extensive outdoor activity including during inclement weather, hand dexterity, the ability to occasionally lift up to 75-80 lbs., climb stairs and walk over uneven surfaces, and traverse rough terrain.

  • Position routinely requires 50+ hours / week (must be able to work night shift), and for the candidate to be on-call 24/7 for incident response during off hours.


  • Knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards and EH&S regulations relevant to the Oil & Gas industry

  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements (e.g., SWPPP, SPPC, PPC, Air Emissions Inventory), as well Emergency Response Incident Command System (ICS/NIMS) is preferable

  • PEC Safeland or IADC Rig-pass required

  • 40 Hr. HAZWOPER and OSHA #5810 Certification desirable, but not required

  • Knowledge of MS Office computer skills, especially MS Excel and Outlook, and web-based databases
