SE Technologies helps environmental managers to maintain compliance and address overall environmental risk management in a cost-efficient manner.

Over the years, the environmental community has shifted its focus from water to waste to air and back again. Historically, environmental managers looked at emissions as individual sourceds, however, regulatory and economic factors are now dictating that they consider sources of emissions to air, water, and waste streams collectively. They must evaluate interaction and interdependency as well as federal, state, and local regulations when assessing the compliance status of facilities.  Annual reporting requirements are eating up more and more time of environmental managers, turning them into “environmental accountants." This leaves less time for evaluating the impact that pending regulations may have on a facility and auditing the regulatory compliance of existing programs. This is a problem that we help to solve.

SET provides a broad spectrum of air permitting and compliance services. We have strongexperience in air permitting in several states, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia andVirginia and has completed Title V applications for several types of sources in many other statesthroughout the country. Our Air Quality Group is structured around two principals with nearly 40years of combined experience in the air compliance and permitting field, as both consultants andregulators.

Environmental Management Systems (EMS)

Reporting is just one facet of regulatory compliance that SE Technologies can support its clients.  There is a trend in the environmental field to move beyond compliance towards integrated Environmental Management Systems (EMS) as a tool for continual environmental improvement and a holistic approach to environmental risk management.  The benefits of an EMS range from decreased scrutiny from regulatory agencies to reduced environmental liability.  In order to develop an effective environmental management system, a company must assess its needs, identify resources to meet those needs, define the system which it seeks to implement in response to those needs, and then implement, audit, and correct deficiencies of the system.  SE Technologies has personnel available who have the knowledge and experience to guide its clients through development of an appropriate EMS for its operation.  We use our knowledge, including ISO 14000 protocol, to help to define an orderly, comprehensive environmental management system.

Of course, environmental compliance need not only be addressed with a full-blown environmental management system.  SE Technologies’ staff has been providing regulatory guidance to clients for over 25 years.  Our professional staff regularly engages in compliance related activities including determining applicable regulations, developing programs to address regulatory compliance requirements, instituting the appropriate programs, and auditing the programs on a regular basis.
